I haven't posted this year yet so I want to start getting in a regular habit of posting in my blog. I will be posting on a variety of subjects, Scouts, books I have read and other subjects which interest me.
I wanted to post about the change of the season. One can sense it in the air so to speak. For me Labor Day always meant the beginning of a new school season but with so many schools now starting the beginning to middle of August this has changed. BTW, why do schools start so early then have a 3 day weekend with Labor Day.
Another sense of the change in the upcoming season is the annual planning meeting with Scouts. Troop 373 had a good planning meeting this past Saturday on Sept 1. It is going to be a good year. We have a good SPL and a couple of good ASPL's. They are rising to the occasion and making this year their own.
This is also the time for intense grilling at the home front. On Saturday evening we had Hatch Chili Burgers with the Fox's at our house. Little Daniel is starting to walk and in a couple of weeks it will be his 1st birthday. On Sunday, we had 3 racks of Baby Back Ribs on the grill, 2 were covered with a rub and the 3rd was the traditional BBQ sauce. The rub ribs tasted really good.
The final hint of the change in the season is the start of football. It was the first weekend of college football. It was good to watch the Trojans open up the season. It will be interesting to see how they do for their quest of a national title after coming off probation.
Sorry, can't stop, what about the L.A. County Fair? We have been going there for upteen years now and still I look forward to going to it. There is always something new and interesting. This year will be the first time my grandson will be going to the fair. It will be fun to see how he reacts to all the farm animals. To see the joy and surprise in his face as he sees the animals for the first time.
