This year it came by so fast. Did it come by quickly to everyone else as well? I wonder how early this Thanksgiving was on the calendar compared to others. Last year, it was pretty late in the month.
I spent the day yesterday with family then we had Thanksgiving dinner at Bean Town. Only able to share Thanksgiving with one grandchild, Layla. She is a beautiful little girl. It was her first Thanksgiving. I am thankful to God for a new grandchild. I missed having Daniel around. Perhaps he will come by on Saturday to watch USC beat up on Notre Dame. :)
Last night was the first time I have braved or should I say endured the crowds for Post-Thanksgiving Christmas shopping. Cara and I went out and got a couple of gifts before they are gone. It amazes me to see the crowds out spending the kind of money they were spending last night and I am sure today.
Josiah and Caleb went out to Desert Caravan this year. Supposedly, this is going to be the last Desert Caravan ever. I wonder if it is that way because of the current leaders getting tired and burned out of always having a Thanksgiving weekend tied up to a specific event? They do it every year. I haven't been in a few years. The past couple of years the weather has been incredible. They have had the event at the same location now for 2 years in a row. I think people are just getting tired of it. Why stop the tradition though? Need to have something new to continue with the tradition.
I will be helping tomorrow with Christmas tree sales at Dicken's Village in Sierra Madre. This will be the second year in a row T373 has set up a booth and sold trees. Last year, I believe we sold 3 trees. Hopefully more this year. Start a tradition. The Scouts will also be helping run the Snow Run event.
And last, I am thankful to Jesus for giving me life, my family, my grandchildren, the work He has provided and the many blessings he has bestowed upon Troop 373.
