Spring Time in California

This is the first week of Spring in California.  It has been a great week.

Last weekend, I was up in the woods at Hoegeee Campground.  This was Nathanael's first backpacking trip.  It was also the first time he ate a Cliff Bar.  He ate 2 of them.  His favorite is the Peanut Crunch bar.  I had a great time with the troop.  We had 15 Scouts who went on the trip.  God spoke to me a lot up there.  About just letting the Scouts have a time enjoying each other.  They spent the day having boat races, panning for gold and golfing.  One of the scouts brought some clubs with him.  We also had a chance for a 3 troop campfire on Saturday night.  Our troop had 3 skits and a song.  The weather was nice in the shaded canyon.  Down in the valley it was in the 90's.

Last night went to Camp Trask for a Brotherhood ceremony for our OA Chapter, Hunkpapa.  The chapter had 2 members seal their membership last night.  Ben and Evan are now Brotherhood.  It was really nice to see brothers in the ceremony team.  It was also nice to see friends hanging out after the ceremony.  This team has been together now for 4 years.  One of the principals has aged out but another has come and taken his place as Meteu.  It was different not seeing Josiah in the role of Meteu after not seeing him perform the part for so many years.  Thomas is going to be a good Meteu as well.

Winter Vacation Time 2013

This has been my first vacation time of this year. It has been a great week off.  The first day of .vacation was spent taking the train down to San Diego.  We got off at Old Town San Diego ad spent the day there with family and friends.  It is a nice place to visit and look at all the historical sites.  They also have a lot of nice restaurants.  We had homemade flour tortillas made on the street.  On Wednesday, we went to Malibu to see the opening of a new grocery store, Vintage Grocers.  It was a nice time to visit.  Only, the 3 boys went with us.  Unknown to me the PCH South bound was closed for a visiting dignitary.  We left for home right before they closed the highway.  On Thursday, I was kidnapped by Cara.  The condition was I had to go along with her for the day because she had everything planned out.  We started the morning with a coffee at Urth CafĂ©, went to Goodwill in Glendale then had a lunch at Porto's in Glendale.  I had a Cubans Sandwich.  On Friday, I worked until 11:30 at Council Dinner then on Saturday helped with Rummage Sale at SMCC.

Sunday Morning Musings From Bean Town

I would like to get back to blogging on my blog.  I will try to at least try at least a weekly Sunday morning blog from Bean Town in Sierra Madre.  It will be a mixture of my thoughts and what has happened in the past week in my life.

The biggest events this past week have to relate to Boy Scouts.  I celebrated my 20th Blue and Gold at Pack 373.  My you youngest son Nathanael bridged over to Scouting.  This Tuesday will be his first troop meeting.  It is a good thing our troop went to Joshua Tree last weekend and not this weekend.  Last weekend was the most beautiful weekend we had at Joshua Tree.  This weekend we had 2-5 inches of rain.  Another son heard yesterday  he has been hired as a Trail Crew Foreman at Philmont.  He is so excited.

As for church today, Caleb will be playing in the worship band this morning in both services.  This is the first time a Deveau has been involved in upfront worship at church.  He has been putting a lot of tome and effort into this.
