Half a Gospel

One of the things which has been bothering me lately in my Christian walk is the over emphasis upon the cross.  I don't want to misunderstood that I put down the cross or feel there is no need for the cross.  Without it, our sins would have not been forgiven, a sacrifice would not have been made by Jesus upon the cross.  What has been bothering me is what I feel is the neglect or lack of emphasis upon the sacrifice, Jesus and his resurrection.

Without the resurrection there would have been no forgiveness of sins, no justification.  I hear about preaching about the cross almost every week but there isn't a mention about Jesus, who he is and what he has done.  It is like we focus on the altar but forget about the sacrifice on the altar which makes the altar holy.  Without Jesus, the cross isn't the means for our salvation.  It is Jesus WHO is the means for our salvation and what he has done on the cross then rising from the dead 3 days later.

What we should be hearing about every week is Jesus is alive and what are you going to do with this knowledge.  It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of a living God.  Jesus is alive today and wants to interact with us.  But this can be a scary thing especially if we like the lives we are leading now, the control of our lives we enjoy having, feeling comfortable about singing about the cross, worshiping the cross....  We need to be worshiping HIM and what he has done for us.

We need to remember Jesus is ALIVE today.  He wants to be in your life today but if he is in your life this will require giving up what is ever on the throne in your life and letting Jesus take the rightful spot on the throne in your life which is His.

There will come a time when every knee will bow before Jesus and declare Him Lord.  Will it be today or in eternity?

Jesus is Alive!
